Krokidas & Bluestein Attorney Anjali Waikar is named “Up & Coming Lawyer”

(BOSTON, MA) April 29, 2014 – Boston-based law firm Krokidas & Bluestein announced today that attorney Anjali Waikar has been selected as one of this year’s “Up & Coming Lawyers” by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly and the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Excellence in the Law award.

“Anjali has done some tremendous work for both K & B and the greater Boston community. We are so pleased that she was selected as an ‘Up & Coming Lawyer,’ and think she has a promising future,” said Founding Partner Maria Krokidas.

Ms. Waikar joined Krokidas & Bluestein in 2008 as an associate after completing the Equal Justice Works Fellowship at the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts, in which she focused on a project addressing the impact of post 9/11 racial, religious, and ethnic profiling, and local enforcement of federal immigration laws.

Her practice at K & B includes representing nonprofit, social service and health care organizations in areas of employment, discrimination, health law related issues and privacy. Ms. Waikar represents clients in all phases of litigation in administrative and state and federal courts with an emphasis on civil rights litigation. Her employment practice includes counseling employers on compliance with state and federal wage and hour, anti-discrimination laws, wrongful termination, FMLA, privacy breaches involving HIPAA, FERPA, employment screening, data security laws, and OSHA investigations.

Ms. Waikar completed the Boston Bar Association’s Public Interest Leadership Program last year, and presently serves as a board member of The Midas Collaborative, a statewide membership organization that works to strengthen economic stability of low to moderate income residents living in Massachusetts. She is also a member of the Advisory Council of Bridge Over Troubled Waters, a nonprofit serving high risk and homeless youth.

Ms. Waikar graduated from Wesleyan University in Connecticut earning a B.A. with Honors in Anthropology in 1999, and she received her law degree from Northeastern University Law School in Boston in 2005.
